6 Methods to Quit Smoking Cigarettes

December 19th, 2011

Are you trying to quit smoking and wondering if you really have it in you to give up such a powerfully addictive drug? There is no doubt about it, most smokers have to try several times before they are able to quit once and for all. If it has been a while since you last tried to quit, or if you have never tried to quit, you should take a few moments to look into all the different methods to quit smoking cigarettes.

First, there is the “cold turkey” method. This is the old-fashioned way of doing it, and requires a lot of willpower and strength and determination. Quitting cold turkey means you make the decision to quit one day, and you just do it, with no outside help. Some people are successful with this method, but most find they need some sort of help to quit.

Next, there are the smoking-cessation products put out by the drug companies.

Generally referred to as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), these products are designed to wean you off nicotine. They contain nicotine and are used instead of cigarettes to help you steadily decrease your dependence on smoking. They come in different forms such as gum, lozenges, and patches.

Also, you may want to try one of the “alternative” methods such as hypnosis or acupuncture. Some people are quite successful with these methods, while others are not. Similar to acupuncture, is a newer method called quit smoking laser therapy, which relies on stimulating certain areas of the body to reduce the craving for nicotine long enough to get you over the major withdrawal period. Some folks, too, can benefit from a combination of herbs that can help you quit.

There is now even an injection – yes, a shot – that you can get at your doctor’s office that may help you say goodbye to your dependence on smokes forever. Imagine – no more counting the minutes until your next smoke break and no more getting out of breath by climbing a flight of stairs.

Basically, there are two quit smoking hypnotherapy methods that you can use to quit smoking: hypnosis by a professional hypnotherapist and self-hypnosis. A hypnotherapist is a certified therapist (or must be) and is trained to help you stop smoking using inspirational words and images. Most hypnotherapists offer hypnosis programs that consist of multiple sessions, while some offer one-session programs. Self-hypnosis, on the other hand, involves techniques that help you to relax and direct yourself through images that make it easy to give up smoking. However, self-hypnosis requires both time and practice to master. A third option is a mixture of the above two methods: recorded audio and video hypnosis programs by professional therapists that you can listen to in the comfort of your home or place of work.

This option is much more affordable than attending programs run by professionals. Luci Electronic Cigarette

What hypnotherapy does is that it gets you into a highly relaxed state whereby you accept suggestions that strengthen your will and determination to quit smoking. The decision to stop smoking is not an easy one. Many smokers are unable to stop because of their psychological attachment to cigarettes. If you think that you don’t have the mental strength to get rid of your smoking habit, then you should choose quit smoking hypnotherapy methods. After undergoing the process, you are likely to disconnect from your emotional attachment to cigarettes and understand the risks associated with smoking.

Regardless of smoking hypnotherapy methods you choose, the treatment can help you to leave the emotion and psychological reasons you smoke and achieve the goal of stopping.

However, the success of any quit smoking hypnotherapy will depend on the degree of commitment you show. After all, it is your determination and hard work that will allow you to get rid of your smoking habit. Your commitment and an effective quit smoking hypnotherapy can really help you become a permanent non-smoker and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. Luci Electronic Cigarette

Electronic Smokes

It is not easy to resist the temptation of smoking as it somehow gives pleasure to the smokers especially when you are into a stressful situation. There are several quit smoking methods that you can choose from to help you become smoke-free for good. Here are some of them:

Cigarettes with Low Tar

Low tar cigarettes can help reduce the risk of lung cancer and aid in your attempt to quit. However, you should be very careful with using low tar cigarettes as studies show that those who use low tar cigarettes as a substitute have the tendency to smoke more. There is even a greater risk as smokers smoke the same amount of nicotine and provide them more exposure to heart diseases.

Hynotherapy

Hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis can make your mind and body feel relaxed.

This method is highly recommended to people who also want to get rid of psychological addiction. Success rates in self hypnosis and hypnotherapy are much higher as compared to other quit smoking methods. When you opt for this method, make sure that the person who will perform hypnotherapy is an experienced and certified hypnotherapist. Electronic Smokes

Aversive Therapies

Another method that you can choose is aversive therapy or inducing dislike of cigarette so the smoker can totally quit smoking. When the negative aspects of smoking are presented to the smoker, he will have the tendency to dislike puffing of cigarettes.

The most common and popular aversive therapy is rapid smoking. The person puff cigarettes every few seconds and let him concentrate on the undesirable effects of smoking. The procedure continues until the person start to feel nauseous. Other forms of aversive therapy include using silver acetate and administration of brief electrical shocks.

Gradually Quitting

When you gradually quit smoking, you are from time to time conditioning yourself that smoking is bad for your health. Once you have this mindset, there is no need for you to resort to replacement therapy. This method involves gradual reduction of cigarette use until such time that you are smoke-free. Scheduled smoking is much effective as compared to the cold turkey method and the withdrawal symptoms are reduced.

These quit smoking methods can be effective to some but may have no effect on others. It usually depends on how your body and mid react to such treatment or method. There is one common denominator that these methods have and that is patience. These methods will not give you results overnight and it has to require you a lot of patience to smoke-free. Various Methods to Quit Smoking

November 12th, 2011

There are many different reasons to quit smoking, one of the most important perhaps is to set a good example for your children. You know how bad this habit is, don’t you want to make sure your kids don’t get hooked in the first place? There are many real health risks involved as well, not just for you but also for every person around you as well. Many childhood diseases such as asthma are related to a parent who smokes.

Many states have passed laws making it harder and harder to light up. Work places are often no smoking areas, and many public places like bars, restaurants and pubs are smoke free as well. You can’t even smoke a cigarette around children in some areas. With all of these restrictions, it seems like it may be a really go time to quit smoking.

The biggest thing about smoking is the addiction to nicotine. It is in many cases twice as addicting as heroine, and that hard to get clean.

Like any drug, it is really hard to break away from addiction, but there is help. Quit smoking programs and products have probably made as much money from people trying to quit as some tobacco companies have in the past. With so many products on the market, you would think that there would be no more smokers out there.

A big problem with quitting is that many people have tried to quit using various techniques, hypnosis, nicotine patches, gum, and many others. The addiction doesn’t go away right away, for one, and in many cases they haven’t learned how to live without that addiction in their life. If for many years people have woken up to a smoke in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other, what are they going to put in that empty hand now?

Every program or technique no matter which one you choose, should have some kind of support system, whether it is a friend who has quit smoking and knows what you’re going through, or at the very least a friendly soothing voice on the phone. People who want to quit smoking should try to change other habits that relate to smoking and smokers as well. Up until recently, a good suggestion would be to not hang out in places that people smoke, now that part is probably the easiest.

Another thing that many people fail to think about when they are trying to quit smoking is weight gain. They are so used to that smoke that they have to have something in their mouth. Others who have smoked for so long may have forgotten what food really tastes like and go crazy trying everything. It is important that if you are going to snack on things, to eat healthy fruits and vegetables, yogurts or granola. Now that you will have a new found sense of energy, go out and do something, like a walk in the park or a simple bike ride.

There are many different resources and products available to help you quit smoking. One simple search on the internet will keep you going for months. There is not one simple cookie cutter way to quit smoking, each person is different, may have existing health problems, and other things that may prevent them from using one program or another. It is a really good idea to consult your doctor before starting any program or technique.
